I’m forcing myself to use the default Ubuntu window manager (metacity) on my new Eee PC. Metacity is a very strange beast. I’m still trying to figure out how to make windows stay where I want them, but at least I found the magic required to make menus animate correctly: _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE. I’ve also added support for _NET_WM_PING and _NET_WM_PID.
